NAIA District 2 primarily consisted of NAIA schools in Oregon. In 1968, Idaho was moved from District 5 to District 2; at some point prior to 1977, Hawai'i was added to the district and remained there until the Hawai'i schools were split off into District 29 in 1984.

When the NAIA split into divisions in 1992, the Division II schools in District 1 were assigned to District 2.

Primary sources for information on this district include the Eugene Register-Guard and the Bulletin (Bend, Oregon).
