NCAA Divison III came into being in 1973. This category only contains those schools which were, but are no longer, officially members of NCAA Division III, with one category of exception: schools which, at some point between 1937 and 1973, competed in a conference otherwise predominantly comprised of current Division III schools and which were not themselves considered "major" teams at the time, may be included.
