The William Paterson University Pioneers compete as members of the New Jersey Athletic Conference in NCAA Division III football and basketball. William Paterson, formerly "Paterson City" and "New Jersey State-Paterson", is a public institution located in Wayne, New Jersey, about a half-hour northwest of Newark. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 9,000.
