The New Jersey City University Gothic Knights compete as members of the New Jersey Athletic Conference in NCAA Division III football and basketball. New Jersey City, formerly "New Jersey State" and "Jersey City State", is a public institution located in Jersey City, New Jersey, directly across the Hudson River from downtown Manhattan. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 6,000.
