The Salve Regina University Seahawks compete in NCAA Division III as members of the Commonwealth Coast Conference in basketball, and as members of the New England Football Conference in football. Salve Regina is a private Catholic (Sisters of Mercy) institution located in Newport, Rhode Island, on Aquidneck Island in Narragansett Bay, about 45 minutes south of Providence. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,000.
