The University of Alaska Fairbanks, sometimes simply referred to as Alaska, Nanooks compete as members of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in NCAA Division II basketball. The school does not sponsor football. Alaska-Fairbanks, the northern-most full university campus in the United States, is a public land-grant institution located deep in the Alaskan Interior in Fairbanks, Alaska, nearly seven hours north of Anchorage. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 9,000.
