The Humboldt State University Lumberjacks compete in NCAA Division II. The school's football team competes as a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, while the basketball teams compete as members of the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Humboldt State is a public institution located in Arcata, California, in the heart of the Pacific Redwood Coast some five hours north of San Francisco.
