The Maine Maritime Academy Mariners compete in NCAA Division III as members of the New England Football Conference for football, and the North Atlantic Conference for basketball. Maine Maritime is a public military institution located in Castine, Maine, about three hours northeast of Portland. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 1,000.
