The Kean University Cougars compete as members of the New Jersey Athletic Conference in NCAA Division III football and basketball. Kean, formerly "Newark State", is a public institution located in Union Township, New Jersey, about 10 minutes west of Newark. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 11,000.
