The Western Connecticut State University Colonials compete in NCAA Division III as members of the Little East Conference in basketball and as members of the New Jersey Athletic Conference in football. Western Connecticut State, formerly "Danbury State", is a public institution located in Danbury, Connecticut, halfway between Hartford and New York City. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 6,000.
