The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, or TAMCC, Islanders compete as members of the Southland Conference in NCAA Division I basketball. The school has not sponsored football since 1966, though a feasibility study is currently underway to explore the possibility of reinstating the program. TAMCC is a public institution located in Corpus Christi, Texas, on the Gulf Coast midway between Houston and the Mexican border. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 8,000.
