The Alvernia College Crusaders compete as members of the Middle Atlantic Conference in NCAA Division III basketball. The school does not sponsor football. Alvernia is a private Catholic (Franciscan) institution located in Reading, Pennsylvania, about an hour northwest of Philadelphia. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,000.
