The Midland University Warriors compete as members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference in NAIA football and NAIA Division II basketball. Midland, until 2010 known as Midland Lutheran until it absorbed Dana, is a private Lutheran institution formerly based in Atchison, Kansas, and located since 1919 in Fremont, Nebraska, about an hour northwest of Omaha. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 1,000.
