The McNeese State University Cowboys compete as members of the Southland Conference in NCAA Division I FCS football and in NCAA Division I basketball. McNeese State is a public institution located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in the southwestern corner of the state, midway between New Orleans and Houston. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 8,000.
