The Southwest Baptist University Bearcats compete in NCAA Division II as independents for football, and as members of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association for basketball. In 2012, the school will rejoin the MIAA in football. Southwest Baptist is a private Baptist institution located in Bolivar, Missouri, about 20 minutes north of Springfield. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 4,000.
