The Missouri Western State University, generally referred to as Missouri Western, Griffins compete as members of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association in NCAA Division II football and basketball. Missouri Western is a public institution located in Saint Joseph, Missouri, on the Missouri River about an hour northwest of Kansas City. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 5,000.
