The Mid-America Christian University Evangels compete as members of the Sooner Athletic Conference in NAIA Division I basketball. The school does not sponsor football. Mid-America Christian, formerly located in Houston, Texas and known as "South Texas Bible Institute" and "Gulf Coast Bible College", then "Mid-America Bible College" on its relocation, is a private Church of God institution located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 1,000.
