The University of California, Santa Cruz, or UCSC, Banana Slugs compete in NCAA Division III basketball as independents. The school does not sponsor football. UCSC is a public institution located in Santa Cruz, California, about 80 minutes south of San Francisco. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 14,000.
