The Emporia State University Hornets compete as members of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association in NCAA Division II football and basketball. Emporia State, formerly "Kansas State Teachers College", is a public institution located in Emporia, Kansas, about 90 minutes southwest of Kansas City. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 4,000.
