The Pittsburg State University Gorillas compete as members of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association in NCAA Division II football and basketball. Pittsburg State, formerly "Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg", is a public institution located in Pittsburg, Kansas, about 90 minutes south of Kansas City. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 5,000.
