The Southern Polytechnic State University Hornets ceased operations following the 2013-14 academic year with the school's impending consolidation into Kennesaw State University. The Hornets' home arena was Athletic Gymnasium. Southern Poly was a public institution located in Marietta, Georgia, about a half-hour northwest of Atlanta. At the time of the merger, Southern Poly had an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 4,000.
