Michigan Lutheran College formerly participated in basketball as members of the NAIA. In 1970, the school was taken over by interests associated with Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina; the school remained open until 1983 as Shaw College of Detroit. Michigan Lutheran was a private Lutheran institution located in Detroit, Michigan.
