The first institution known as Jordan College sponsored men's basketball in the pre-war era, and made two appearances in the NAIA Men's Basketball Tournament. The school, a private institution of unknown religious affiliation in Menominee, Michigan, closed in 1955 due to economic hardships.

This school should not be confused with a later institution also known as Jordan College, an unaccredited institution based in Cedar Springs, Michigan from 1967-1996 which did not sponsor athletics.
