The Dakota State State University Trojans compete as members of the North Star Athletic Association in NAIA football and NAIA Division II basketball. Dakota State, formerly known as "General Beadle State College", is a public institution located in Madison, South Dakota, about an hour northwest of Sioux Falls. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 3,000.
