The Concordia University, Saint Paul Golden Bears compete as members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in NCAA Division II football and basketball. Concordia-Saint Paul is a private Lutheran institution located in the capital city of Saint Paul, Minnesota. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,000.

The campus is small, but growing, located in Saint Paul's Midway neighborhood, and is slightly to the west of the area historically referred to as Rondo, Saint Paul's predominant African-American neighborhood. It is served by Interstate 94 with two exits. Exit 239A, to Hamline Avenue, is only available for those coming from the east; Exit 238, to Snelling Avenue, can be accessed from both directions. The westbound exit leads on to Concordia Avenue, which runs parallel to the freeway. Marshall Avenue runs through the campus as well. SeaFoam Stadium (2,000) is located at the corner of Concordia and Hamline. Before it opened in 2009, the Golden Bears played at James Griffin Stadium (6,000) at nearby Saint Paul Central High School. Gangelhoff Center (1,000, but expandable to 4,000) is at the corner of Hamline and Marshall.

Since moving up to Division II, the Golden Bears have not had success in building up a rivalry in either football or men's basketball, due to being relatively isolated as the lone Twin Cities based college in the league. They do, however, have a budding national rivalry in volleyball with Cal State-San Bernardino.

Given its Johnny-come-lately status, no alumni have reached the NFL or NBA.
