The Middle Georgia State University Knights compete as members of the Southern States Athletic Conference in NAIA Division I basketball. The school does not sponsor football. The school was formed in 2013 by the consolidation of Middle Georgia College and Macon State College, both of which only competed as junior college programs previously. Middle Georgia State is a public institution located in Macon, Georgia, about 75 minutes southeast of Atlanta. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 8,000.
