The University of the Cumberlands Patroits compete as members of the Mid-South Conference in NAIA football and NAIA Division I basketball. Cumberlands, formerly known as "Williamsburg Institute" and "Cumberland College", is a private Baptist institution located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, in far southeastern Kentucky about halfway between Lexington and Knoxville. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,000. The school's teams were formerly nicknamed "Indians", but changed in 2001 for sensitivity reasons.
