The William Carey University Crusaders compete as members of the Southern States Athletic Conference in NAIA Division I basketball. The school does not sponsor football. William Carey, formerly known as "Mississippi Woman's College", is a private Baptist institution located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, about an hour south of Jackson. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,000.
