Claremont McKenna College, in conjunction with Harvey Mudd College and Scripps College since 1976, competes as the Stags (Athenas for women's teams) compete as members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in NCAA Division III football and basketball. Claremont McKenna, a member of the Claremont Colleges, is a private non-sectarian institution located in Claremont, California, about a half-hour east of Los Angeles. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 1,000.
