The Claflin University Panthers compete as members of the NCAA Division II Independents in NCAA Division II basketball. The school does not sponsor football. Claflin, a historically black college, is a private Methodist institution located in Orangeburg, South Carolina, about a half-hour southeast of Columbia. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,000.
