The Shawnee State University Bears compete as members of the Mid-South Conference in NAIA Division II basketball. The school does not sponsor football. Shawnee State is a public institution located in Portsmouth, Ohio, about 90 minutes south of Columbus. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 4,000.
