The Misericordia University Cougars compete as members of the Colonial States Athletic Conference in NCAA Division III basketball. The school does not sponsor football. The school's teams will move to the Middle Atlantic Conference for the 2008-09 season. Misericordia is a private Catholic (Sisters of Mercy) institution located in Dallas, Pennsylvania, about 20 minutes west of Scranton. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 1,000.
