The West Virginia University Institute of Technology, or West Virginia Tech, Golden Bears compete in NAIA Division II as members of the NAIA Division II Basketball Independents in basketball, and in NAIA football as members of the Mid-South Conference. In 2015, the school will join the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for all sports except football. West Virginia Tech, formerly known as "New River State College", is a public institution located in Montgomery, West Virginia, about 20 minutes southwest of Charleston. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,000.
