Talk:1951 NAIA Men's Basketball District Regionals

I'm not sure that there was a District 27, as that would have implied that there was a Tennessee-only district. But there were playoffs that involved teams from AL, MS and TN before 1951. I don't know how you would handle this Jon, but I think there should be a combined District 19-27 slot for 1951. Howard, 19:23, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

    • Yeah, I don't know. Great point. The real hitch in the mechanism is that all three districts were represented in 1952, but 24 disappeared for a year in '53. If one of them hadn't been, the answer would be obvious. I wonder if one of the three (Memphis State, Murray State, Southern Miss) was actually an at-large invitee in 1952...?     • I remembered something else here: The reason District 24 was unrepresented in 1953 was specifically because they failed to conduct a playoff in the absence of any other settled form of qualification. It wasn't until I read the comment I'd already placed on 24 in 1953 that I remembered, but there was a specific mention of it in an article (relating to Georgetown (KY) being irritated over the ruling). Another thing that I've discovered, there's a conflict with the dates for the District 25 playoffs. I've chosen to leave them blank for the moment.
