The Mississippi University for Women, or MUW, Blues terminated their athletic program in 2003. At the time, the school was a member of the Gulf South Athletic Conference, competing in NCAA Division II women's basketball. Although the school had gone co-ed in 1982, no men's athletics were offered. MUW, formerly known as "Industrial Institute and College" and "Mississippi State College for Women", is a public institution located in Columbus, Mississippi, about three hours northeast of Jackson. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,000.
