Category:Former NCAA Division I FBS Schools

This category includes all schools which were officially members of NCAA Division I-A after 1978, but are no longer. Schools which were officially football-playing members of the NCAA University Division prior to 1973, but had downgraded their program or dropped football prior to that date, belong in category:Former NCAA University Division Schools. Exception: Schools which dropped football while members of the University Division, yet continued to participate in basketball as University Division/Division I programs, retain this designation.
