The Christopher Newport University Captains compete as members of the USA South Athletic Conference in NCAA Division III football and basketball. Christopher Newport, formerly a branch campus of the College of William and Mary, is a private non-sectarian institution located in the Tidewater community of Newport News, Virginia. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 5,000.
