Bluebonnet Bowl
From Varsity Pride
The Bluebonnet Bowl was a bowl game held in Houston, Texas from 1959-1987. It was originally held at Rice Stadium. From 1968-1984, and in 1987, it was instead held at the Astrodome, and referred to as the Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl. The game expired after the 1987 edition due to poor ticket sales and a lack of corporate sponsorship.
Generally, a Texas team hosted a team from outside the region, although this was not always the case and the bowl never had an official tie-in with any conference.
