The Augusta State University Jaguars compete as members of the Peach Belt Conference in NCAA Division II basketball. The school does not sponsor football. In 2013, in conjunction with its merger with Georgia Health Sciences University, Augusta State will be renamed Georgia Regents University. Augusta State is a public institution located in Augusta, Georgia, about two and a half hours east of Atlanta. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 6,000.
