The University of Northern Iowa Panthers compete as members of the Missouri Valley Football Conference in NCAA Division I FCS football, and in the Missouri Valley Conference in NCAA Division I basketball. Northern Iowa, formerly "Iowa State Teachers College" and "State College of Iowa, is a public institution located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, near Waterloo. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 11,000.
