The Radford University Highlanders compete as members of the Big South Conference in NCAA Division I basketball. The school does not sponsor football. Radford, formerly the "Women's Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute", is a public institution located in the town of Radford, Virginia, in the southwestern arm of the state. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 8,000.
