The Gardner-Webb University Bulldogs compete as members of the Big South Conference in NCAA Division I FCS football, and as members of the Atlantic Sun Conference in NCAA Division I basketball. (Gardner-Webb will join the Big South for all sports in 2008.) Gardner-Webb is a private Baptist institution located in the town of Boiling Springs, North Carolina, about 50 miles west of Charlotte in the state's western handle. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 4,000.
