The Siena College Saints compete as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in NCAA Division I basketball. The school has not sponsored football since 2003. Siena is a private Catholic (Franciscan) institution located in Loudonville, New York, just north of Albany. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 3,000.

The campus is located about five miles north of downtown Albany, on US 9 (Loudon Road) between Spring Street and Fiddlers Lane; freeway access is from I-90 exit 6 or I-787 exit 7W. Times Union Center (15,500) is off-campus, in downtown Albany one block southeast of the state capitol on NY 32 (Pearl Street) at the South Mall Arterial (exit 4 from I-787). TUC, formerly the Knickerbocker Arena and Pepsi Arena, is also the home of the AHL's Albany River Rats and af2's Albany Firebirds. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has hosted numerous basketball tournaments at the facility -- 15 times since 1990 -- and also hosts the ECAC Hockey League championships annually, and has hosted NCAA regional action on several occasions.

Siena's chief rival is crosstown Albany.

No Saints have appeared in the NFL or NBA. Siena's baseball team has provided a major leaguer, however, in the person of P John Lannan of the Washington Nationals.
