The Western Illinois University Leathernecks (Westerwinds for women's sports) compete as members of the Gateway Football Conference in NCAA Division I FCS football, and in the Mid-Continent Conference in NCAA Division I basketball. Western Illinois is a public institution located in Macomb, Illinois, about an hour south of Davenport, Iowa. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 11,000.
