Brigham Young University-Idaho does not sponsor intercollegiate athletics. Until 2001, the college had been knows as Ricks College, and was a junior college which did offer varsity sports. The school's relevance to this site, however, is that Ricks offered four-year degrees from 1948-1956, and participated in NAIA sports at that time. Their teams were nicknamed the Vikings. BYU-Idaho is a private Latter-Day Saints institution located in Rexburg, Idaho, in the eastern part of the state about an hour north of Pocatello. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 14,000.
