The West Virginia University Institute of Technology, or West Virginia Tech, Golden Bears compete as independents in NAIA Division II basketball. The school terminated its football program following the 2011 season; their home stadium was Martin Field. In 2015, the school will join the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. West Virginia Tech, formerly known as "New River State College", is a public institution located in Montgomery, West Virginia, about 20 minutes southwest of Charleston. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,000.
