The University of Illinois at Chicago, or "UIC", Flames compete as members of the Horizon League in NCAA Division I basketball. The school has not sponsored football since 1974. Illinois-Chicago, previously known as "Navy Pier" and "Illinois-Chicago Circle", is a public institution located in downtown Chicago, Illinois. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 15,000. UIC's teams were previously known as the "Chikas," for the Chickasaw tribe, but this was changed in the mid-1970s for sensitivity reasons.
