The 1956 Aluminum Bowl was sanctioned by the NAIA as its first football championship game. Played in Little Rock, AR, it was broadcast by CBS to a national audience. Unfortunately, the game was played, on a rain-soaked field, to a scoreless draw, and, due to the Central High School controversy the following year, the NAIA moved the football championship to Saint Petersburg, Florida.
