The California State University, Bakersfield Roadrunners compete as independents in NCAA Division I basketball as of 2007 (transitioning from NCAA Division II). The school does not sponsor football. Cal State-Bakersfield is a public institution located in the south end of the Central Valley in Bakersfield, California, about 90 minutes north of Los Angeles. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 6,000.
