Final Year: 1991

The United States International University Gulls ceased operations in 1991 when the school declared bankruptcy. At the time, the school competed as an NCAA Division I Independent in men's basketball, and had fielded a football team briefly in the 1980s. The women's basketball program ceased operations following the 1989 season. US International, formerly known as California Western University, was a private non-sectarian institution located in San Diego, CA.

Following its bankruptcy, the school did not reinstate its athletic programs, and in 2001 merged with the Alliant University -- known as the California School of Professional Psychology until 2000 -- to form Alliant International University. Alliant has not, as yet, instituted an athletic program; if at some point it does so, this site will continue to treat the two schools separately since Alliant existed individually prior to the merger.
